Pest Wizard Natural Catch Plus Fruit Fly Trap
Pest: Drosophilid fruit flies, also known as the common fruit fly, are 1.5-7.0 mm in length. Body color varies by species to include yellow, golden, brown, or black in color. They have red eyes and a shiny body that often has stripes or spots. Most often, female fruit flies lay eggs in soft, over-ripe or rotting fruit or vegetables, but fruit fly eggs can develop in any moist film of fermenting material such as what is found in trash/recycling cans, empty bottles and cans, mops, drains and garbage disposals.
Damage: Fruit flies are commonly found feeding or laying eggs on the surfaces of fruits, leaves, plant secretions and the honeydew aphids produce. They lay hundreds of eggs at a time and complete the entire life cycle in about a week. As a result, it can be very challenging to get rid of fruit flies without an effective fruit fly trap.
Method: To get rid of fruit flies, this trap lures them inside with a specially designed attractant. Once inside the fruit fly trap, they drown in the liquid. Replace the trap every 30 days as needed. For best results, place near the highest concentration of fruit flies.Â
Unlike traditional insecticides, this fruit fly trap is FDA approved as food grade material and can be safely placed next to food.
